Essex Cornerstone’s First Dungeons & Dragons Night – A Critical Hit in Wickford!

Last weekend, the Essex Cornerstone Club embarked on a brand-new adventure — our first ever Dungeons & Dragons night, held in Wickford — and what a quest it turned out to be.

For some, it was their first step into the world of tabletop role-playing. For others, seasoned adventurers, it was a chance to dust off the dice and dive back into a realm of fantasy, strategy, and teamwork. What united everyone around the table was the spirit of camaraderie and a shared willingness to embrace something different.

Slaying Metal Monsters

Our brave party navigated a twisting map of hidden dangers, mysterious corridors, and unexpected encounters. The highlight of the evening? A dramatic battle against a formidable metal monster that tested both nerve and coordination.

Success didn’t come from individual heroics alone — it came from collaboration. Every spell cast, every dice roll, every carefully considered move relied on trust and teamwork. Strategy discussions were lively, alliances were formed, and at key moments, the fate of the party rested on the roll of a single D20.

And, of course, there were moments of chaos, laughter, and near disaster — exactly as it should be.

Teamwork Through the Map

Beyond the monsters and magic, the evening was a reminder of what Cornerstone is all about. Just like navigating a dungeon, our journey as a club is strongest when we move forward together — supporting one another, thinking strategically, and embracing new experiences.

It was fantastic to see members connecting in a different environment — not a formal dinner, not a committee meeting, but around a shared table of imagination and creativity.

Raising Funds for £10k for 10 Years

Even better, the evening wasn’t just about adventure. The event raised £100 towards our “£10k for 10 Years” challenge, helping us move one step closer to our ambitious fundraising goal as we celebrate a decade of Essex Cornerstone.

Every event this year — whether it’s pool, clay shooting, golf, or now dragons — contributes to that collective target. It’s about having fun with purpose.

More Quests Ahead?

After such a successful first campaign, there’s already talk of future adventures. Perhaps new lands to explore. Bigger monsters to defeat. Higher stakes.

One thing is certain — this was a natural 20 for Cornerstone.

If you’d like to get involved in future events and be part of our £10k for 10 Years journey, keep an eye on upcoming socials and join us for the next adventure.
