The May social for the Essex Cornerstone Club delivered a brilliant mix of excitement, laughter, and charitable impact with an evening at the Romford Greyhound Stadium.
Set under the lights of the famous dog track, members gathered for a relaxed and lively night that perfectly captured the Cornerstone spirit. With races taking place throughout the evening, there was a real buzz as everyone cheered on their chosen greyhounds, compared predictions, and enjoyed the friendly rivalry that naturally followed.
A sweepstake added an extra layer of fun, giving everyone a reason to stay engaged race after race. While fortunes rose and fell trackside, the emphasis remained firmly on enjoyment and togetherness rather than winning. The sweepstake also had a charitable purpose, with £50 raised for charity over the course of the evening — a reminder that even our most social events can still make a positive difference.
As always, the informal setting allowed members to connect beyond the Lodge room. Newer faces were warmly welcomed, conversations flowed easily between races, and plenty of laughs were shared as unexpected results kept everyone guessing. For many, it was a first visit to the dog track, making the experience all the more memorable.
The Romford social was a great example of what Essex Cornerstone aims to achieve: fun, accessible events that bring Freemasons under 40 together, strengthen friendships, and quietly support charitable causes along the way.
With the cheers fading and the final race run, members left already talking about future socials — proof that when good company, a lively venue, and a charitable touch come together, Cornerstone events continue to hit the mark.
