The latest Cornerstone Social offered members of the Essex Cornerstone Club a truly memorable experience with a private tour of the headquarters of the United Grand Lodge of England at Great Queen Street.

Stepping inside Freemasons’ Hall is always impressive, but having exclusive access elevated the day into something special. Members were guided through areas not usually explored on standard visits, giving a deeper insight into the history, symbolism, and scale of Freemasonry in England. From the grandeur of the Grand Temple to the quieter, reflective spaces within the building, the tour brought centuries of tradition vividly to life.

What made the day particularly meaningful was the opportunity to experience this iconic setting alongside fellow young Freemasons. Conversations flowed naturally as members shared their own Masonic journeys, reflected on the heritage of the Craft, and discussed how its values continue to resonate in modern life. For some, it was their first visit to Great Queen Street; for others, it was a chance to see the building through fresh eyes.

The Cornerstone Social programme is designed to offer more than just a night out, and this event delivered exactly that — blending learning, fellowship, and inspiration in equal measure. The private tour reinforced a sense of connection not only to each other, but to the wider story of Freemasonry.
As the evening drew to a close, there was a shared appreciation for the privilege of experiencing such a historic venue in this way. It was a reminder that Cornerstone events don’t just build friendships — they deepen understanding and strengthen the bonds that unite Freemasons across Essex and beyond.
