On 25 January 2025, the Essex Light Blues Club and Essex Cornerstone Club came together for a relaxed and highly successful social evening at the Lea on Sea Brewery.

Bringing together two distinct but complementary groups within Essex Freemasonry, the evening highlighted the strength of connection across generations. The Essex Light Blues Club, supporting newer Freemasons aged over 40, joined forces with Essex Cornerstone, which represents Freemasons under the age of 40. The result was a welcoming, informal environment that encouraged conversation, shared experiences, and genuine camaraderie.
The brewery provided the perfect backdrop — informal, warm, and full of character. Over locally brewed ales, members caught up with familiar faces while also meeting brethren they might not otherwise encounter through their Mother Lodges. Conversations flowed easily, ranging from Masonic journeys and upcoming events to work, family life, and shared interests beyond the Craft.
What made the evening particularly special was the opportunity to build bridges between age groups. Newer members at different stages of life were able to exchange perspectives, advice, and encouragement, reinforcing the idea that Freemasonry offers a lifelong journey, supported by a strong and inclusive community.
Events like this underline the importance of social engagement in strengthening retention, involvement, and enjoyment within Essex Freemasonry. By the end of the evening, new friendships had been formed, plans for future joint events were already being discussed, and there was a clear sense that collaborations between the Light Blues Club and Essex Cornerstone can only continue to enrich the Masonic experience for all involved.
