Homelessness Appeal

The Essex Cornerstone Foundation is proud to announce its latest initiative aimed at supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. This winter, the Foundation is launching a Homelessness Appeal to provide essential supplies to local homeless charities, ensuring they can meet the growing demand for assistance during the colder months.

Helping the Homeless with 1,000 Essential Packs

As part of this appeal, the Essex Cornerstone Foundation will be distributing 1,000 essential packs to homeless individuals through various charities across Essex. These packs are designed to address immediate needs and offer some comfort to those who are struggling. Each pack contains:

Toothbrushes

Soap

Flannel

Heat blanket

Socks

Hats

Gloves

The items included have been carefully chosen to provide warmth, hygiene, and a sense of dignity to individuals facing homelessness.

Planned Distribution Over Six Months

To ensure the sustained impact of this initiative and to align with the operational capacities of local charities, the 1,000 packs will be distributed in four donations of 250 packs each over the next six months. This phased approach allows charities to manage their resources effectively and ensures that support is available throughout the challenging winter period and beyond.

Homelessness charities in Essex have reported increased demand for their services in recent years, particularly during the winter months when the cold weather exacerbates the difficulties faced by those living on the streets. “Homelessness in the UK disproportionately affects younger individuals, with a significant number of those experiencing homelessness being under 40 years old. According to the Office for National Statistics, the median age of people identified as homeless in England and Wales is 32. The Essex Cornerstone Foundation is deeply committed to supporting these people that are in need, especially during the challenging winter months. By providing these essential packs, we hope to bring a measure of comfort and care to those experiencing homelessness and to support the incredible work of our local charities.
