The annual September Curry Night once again proved to be a highlight of the social calendar for the Essex Cornerstone Club, with members heading into the heart of London for an evening of food, fellowship, and familiar Cornerstone camaraderie on Brick Lane.
Brick Lane’s unmistakable energy provided the perfect backdrop for this much-loved tradition. Known for its rich food culture and vibrant atmosphere, it offered an ideal setting for members to unwind, catch up, and enjoy a shared experience away from the Lodge room. As plates arrived and dishes were passed around the table, conversation flowed just as freely as the recommendations for what to try next.
The evening welcomed a mix of regular faces and newer members, all drawn together by Cornerstone’s relaxed and inclusive ethos. From mild and aromatic favourites to bold, spicy choices, the variety on offer ensured there was something for everyone. As always, the friendly debate over the “best dish of the night” sparked plenty of laughter and good-natured banter.
What makes the September Curry Night endure year after year is its simplicity. There’s no formal structure or agenda, just Freemasons under 40 enjoying good food in good company. It’s an event that fits easily around busy lives while still playing an important role in building friendships and strengthening connections across Lodges.
As the evening came to a close and members spilled back out onto the bustling streets of Brick Lane, there was the familiar sense of satisfaction that comes from a Cornerstone event done well. Full plates, plenty of laughs, and the shared enjoyment of a long-standing tradition made it another curry night to remember. 🍛
